Hessel (1989) studied history with a focus on emancipation struggles and music. Raised by feminist parents but born into a world full of injustices and gender inequality, his road to finding himself and developing himself as the man and human he always wanted to be has been long and windy. One major step in this was a friend who had been at an Emancipator event asking him in early 2019 to start an ‘unlearning toxic masculinity’ talking group focused on men. Since then reshaping himself, his masculinity and contributing to allow others to do the same has been a key part of his life. With six years of talking with men about transforming their masculinity into something more wholesome he found his ‘dream job’ at Emancipator in early 2024. There he now thrives in both doing the part he came from - talking with boys and men directly to help them transform themselves - as well as more large scale contributions through project management, helping to write policy reports and the like.
